other information regarding water quality for the Proctor Lake Watershed.
The Proctor Lake watershed encompasses approximately 1278 square miles in Brown, Comanche, Eastland, Erath, Callahan, and Stephens counties, located in the Brazos River basin. The watershed is drained by the upstream portion of the Leon River above Proctor Lake, and other stream segments that flow into the Proctor Lake. Several portions of waterbodies in the watershed are listed as impaired in the Texas Integrated Report of Surface Water Quality for not meeting the state’s water quality standards for bacteria and dissolved oxygen.
To support the determination and development of approaches for addressing impairments in the watershed, the Texas Water Resources Institute (TWRI) is currently undertaking a review and analysis of existing watershed and water quality data. Through this project, TWRI will characterize the watershed by collecting data to identify causes and sources of pollution and will facilitate a stakeholder engagement process aimed at raising awareness of water quality impairments.
Objectives:
- Analyze water quality data to illustrate historical water quality in the watershed.
- Characterize potential causes and sources of pollution through water quality and watershed-related data gathering and assessment to develop a better understanding of the factors causing impairments.
- Facilitate a stakeholder engagement process aimed at raising awareness of water quality impairments in the watershed.
